YALI RLC Alumni Nigeria School Tour, a historic milestone for the Association — Wofai Samuel.
The Young African Leaders Initiative, YALI RLC Alumni Nigeria School tour project, in commemoration of “Children’s Day” with the theme “A better Nigeria from the Classroom” was held on May 27th, 28th and 31st respectively.
In a statement released by the Communications Director, Wofai Samuel, she stated that:
‘’YALI NG School Tour sensitized 3,296 students and 159 teachers from 21 schools in 21 communities across 16 states in Nigeria with 39 committed volunteers in partnership with STEMi.
The project sensitized students across all geo-political zones in Nigeria, on the importance of education SDG 4, irrespective of the current disruption caused by COVID-19.
We started by launching a recruitment platform online, and 39 volunteers were recruited and added to a WhatsApp group.
The volunteers were trained on the goals of the project for three weeks.
At the end of the training, the volunteers were charged to get a low-income public or private school of their choice with a letter of recommendation from YALI RLC Alumni Nigeria.
Upon implementation in schools, students have had opportunities to interact with YALI Leaders, exchange ideas and reinstate their commitment to making the best of their educational pursuits’’.
Wofai thanked Obasanjo Fajemirokun, the Events and Networking Chairman, Temitayo Olatunde, The Speaker Bureau Chief and Rauf Hammed, the 2021 President, for the unwavering commitment to accomplishing the project.
Yours Faithfully,
Wofai Samuel — Communications Chair,
YALI RLC Alumni in Nigeria, 2021.
