U.S Consulate, reiterates support for YALI RLC Alumni activities in Nigeria — Wofai Samuel.
On Tuesday, August 17th 2021, Alumni members of the three arms of YALI:
• The RLC,
• Mandela Washington and
• Network,
were invited by the Consul General of the United States Consulate in Lagos, Ambassador Claire Pierangelo, for a reception in honor of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Alumni.
The Event which commenced at 1.00pm WAT, at the Consul General’s Residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, was Presided over, by the Coordinator of YALI in the Southern Region of Nigeria, Mr. Austin Emeanua and the Public
Affairs Officer of the Consulate, Mr. Stephen Ibelli.
The reception provided Alumni members a gigantic opportunity to meet one another and exchange ideas.
Starting the conversation with an RLC Alumni, Wofai Samuel, Mr. Stephen Ibelli congratulated the RLC Arm of YALI on the work done so far and expressed his excitement to have seen Alumni members take up the mantle of leadership in personal and collective capacities.
He questioned on ways and suggestions to better the activities of the Programs in Nigeria.
Wofai, turned her attention to the RLC, stating that it will be beneficial to see the Consulate identify more with RLC
activities and members as they are motivated with their presence and participation.
She thanked the USA for the opportunities so far and asked for more collaboration with the RLC Alumni members.
Other Alumni members took turns to speak when they were called upon and stressed on the need for collaboration between all three arms of the programs.
The Coordinator, Mr. Austin Emeanua assured Alumni members that their pleas, suggestions and complains were all noted and will be discussed internally at the consulate.
Also present were the President of YALI RLC in Nigeria, Mr. Hammed, Rauf.
We look forward to continuously engaging with the RLC before the end of this administration to bring the desired progress for all youths.
