Representative of the US Consulate in Nigeria,

Representative of the RLC, Ghana,

Past Presidents,

Executive members and Regional Representatives in Nigeria.

Colleagues and leaders.

Today marks the end of a one year journey as the YALI RLC South-South Regional Representative. It has been a great privilege to serve my people in the south-south Region and Nigeria at large.

We now have a cleaner environment in Rivers State as a result of the Clean up Nigeria Project.

‘’Leaders must be close enough to relate to others, but far enough to motivate them’’ - John C. Maxwell

To be a great leader you must live with God and move with Him beyond where the people are. If they must follow you, you must be ahead of them.

We have been refined and molded as leaders through the YALI RLC.

I highly appreciate my team of Excos’ who made our tenure a success. My friend Thomas Carlyle said, ‘a great man shows his greatness by the way he treats little men’, as leaders I encourage us to give great treatment to people.

My Fellows, I hail ohhh.

My mentor, Broker T. Washington told me, ‘character is power’. As African leaders, we must develop good characters, the trust and involvement of our followers will be parallel to the level of our own character.

Note, good followers are great leaders and we must use power to help people, for we are given power to not to advance our own purposes nor to make a great show in the world, nor a name. There is but one just use of power, and it is to serve people.

As leaders we must be focus and determined to take the right measures to pass our vision and ideas across and translate them into reality.

A run is not run until you run it, and a dance is not dance until you dance. let us run with our vision, our ideas and translate them into reality.

As a two term regional representative, my greatest achievement was to see members in my region, motivated through my leadership style.

My mentor Henry Ford told me, ‘if you think you can you can, but if you think you can’t, you are right’.

I believe and I can. If I can, you can also, just believe.

I wish all incoming Excos’ good-luck and a fruitful tenure.

Thank You.

Temple Bright,

South-South Regional Representative 2021,

YALI RLC, Alumni Nigeria.
