Ikpotokin Osalumhense Peace

Peace is a Cohort 11 Alumni, a practicing Civil Engineer, International STEM Ambassador and Writer with over 5 years commitment in community service, capacity building and volunteering both in National and International NGOs.

In the last few years, she has been part of high-profiled projects in construction, telecommunication and oil and gas industry, working with reputable giants and making significant contributions by utilizing teamwork and leadership skills.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Second Class Honors from The Federal University of Technology Akure and a National Diploma with Distinction. She has won prices and received recognition with respect to her academic achievements and high-level volunteering.

In 2018 while on YALI RLC program, she rounded it up with a community project that educated 50 students on the SDGs and opportunities in the environmental sector.

She has also been privileged to be selected for leadership trainings and innovative programs such as IdealHacks Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship, UN 14th Day of Activism to end Violence Against Women, Young African Female Achievers Program and IHAV Conferences-Africans 100 most Innovative and Deserving Youths.

At the Society of Women Engineers, she has served as a Volunteer, Global Ambassador(FY19, FY20) and was recently part of the Ambassadors whose stories were shared for FY20 Global Ambassador Program, and for this year the society has its largest cohort of nearly 100 Ambassadors from 19 countries Globally-a major feat in the history of the Society. During this times, she led key procedures and programs, coordinated the Queens Project to support and engage young women in engineering and technology.

She also worked with Engineer Girl, an arm of the National Academy of Engineering for 2 years, on International Essay Competition-helping to score, guide, and recommend best approach for essay writing to help students improve their writing skills, effectiveness in communicating, research, analytical thinking, creativity and originality as well as presentation skills.

She has also volunteered for the National Society of Black Engineers, International Youth Council, Sheerwood, and Nigerian Red Cross Society.

She recently got selected into the Commonwealth Women Mentoring Program, an initiative of the Commonwealth Secretariat, Commonwealth Youth Gender Equality Network, Commonwealth Youth Council, and Rotary International developed at the Commonwealth Women Leaders’ Summit in 2016, and endorsed by Commonwealth Ministers responsible for women’s affairs. The program selects women Commonwealth citizens between 18 and 29 who have demonstrated leadership and drive in their careers or in community projects.

At her leisure she enjoys writing, reading, cooking, traveling and volunteering.
